Update from Maddie

01 Jul 2013 | Posted by Andrew Onions

Hi My names Maddie for those of you that don't know me I am MacLellan rubbers newest apprentice. Andrew Onions, director of MacLellan rubber, offered me an exciting opportunity to work in the world of all things rubber related. My training so far has covered the basics on a number of aspects in the rubber industry. In addition to my in house training program and expert guidance from my mentor Chris I have also been given the challenge of starting an NVQ In Business Administration. I have taken the opportunity to record and share my progression through the MacLellan rubber Blog. Since starting at MacLellan Rubber on the 7th May I have been working through a training record assigned which over the coming months will give ma a good footing in all aspects of the business like how to use our CRM system, Sage system and much more. So far I have learnt the basics such as checking stock, processing basic orders, sending order acknowledgements to customers, creating quote, checking delivery dates and sending invoices, but am learing more new skills each day. I have been given the responsibility of being sample co-ordinator to deal with all customer sample requests. This is a critical role for the company as it helps us in gaining new business. I have therefore created procedures for both the sample orders and post organizing the system to make it more efficient for the team. During my first couple of weeks at the company I also identified the need for a post station in the office, so went on to create one, this includes a set of post scales and also weigh and package cost charts, by doing this I can now ensure that the post is being sent with the right amount of postage applied. My daily duties include the responsibility of calculating and emailing the order day book out to everyone in the morning, chasing any purchase orders that have been placed to check they have been received, checking and listing items on the companies eBay account plus our website for orders. I am also process leader for office filing and archiving. Recently I had my first meeting with my assessor Reannon Rushton from Nova Training and will be starting work on my NVQ units over the next month. This starts tomorrow with the theory section of my apprenticeship. I have learnt so many new things since starting at MacLellans and still continue to learn more and more each day. I look forward to speaking to you in the near future Maddie
