National Apprenticeships Week

13 Feb 2023 | Posted by Andrew Onions

MacLellan Rubber supports National Apprenticeships week, the theme this year being Skills for life. Throughout the week we take up the initiative by reflecting on how we can help our team members further develop the skills and knowledge they need for a rewarding career and to help MacLellan rubber further grow its talent pool for the future.

Each year the Government runs a National Apprenticeship Week to celebrate and promote the apprenticeship programme, something in which MacLellan rubber have been a big supporter of over many years.

Apprentices have become an invaluable part of MacLellan Rubber's business having employed Eight apprentices, with many of them being employed by MacLellan initially before moving to further progress in their careers.

Our current commercial apprentices are Chloe Flavell and Taysia Mason-Townsend, both of which have excelled within the programme and in becoming valued members of the MacLellan Family.

Chloe Flavell started with us back in July 2020, and throughout this time has become a valued and integral part of the Sales Administration team, predominantly taking a lead on Customer order processing, and delivering high levels of service throughout our customer base.

Chloe commented As an apprentice I feel supported. I’ve never felt so looked after. The apprenticeship has given me the opportunity to get my career started”.

Taysia Mason Townsend, started with us as a commercial apprentice in July 2021 and has recently completed her NVQ level 3 in Business Administration with a Distinction. She now works within our Quality Assurance team.

Taysia Commented “The apprenticeship programme has allowed me to gain the necessary skills and expand my knowledge significantly in my chosen career, it has allowed me to earn money whilst achieving a nationally recognised qualification and I would recommend an apprenticeship to everyone.”

Andrew Onions, director at MacLellan Rubber, said: "What I initially found surprising is that we learn as much from the apprentices as they do from us! Their fresh attitude to both life and work helps us in turn to maintain a fresh approach to our working practices and customer service. We wouldn't be the company we are without their input and we look forward to continuing to support the Apprenticeship scheme for many years to come."
