UBA Certified Drinking Water Approval

MacLellan Rubber have added an Umweltbundesamt (UBA) approved EPDM to its range of technical materials for Drinking Water applications.

Whilst UBA approval is essentially a German certification, it encompasses many of the requirements being established for a harmonised testing and hygienic suitability standard under the Four Member States (4 MS) collaboration program between the United Kingdom, Germany, France and the Netherlands. 

These requirements includes adopting a common practice for the testing of materials and acceptance levels, the specification of tests to be applied, reviewing factory production controls and setting audit testing requirements. The 4 MS Common Approach is intended to be adopted under Directive 98/43/EC when it is reviewed and updated in the near future.

Our UBA certified compound has also been approved to the French Sanitary Conformity Certification (ACS) standard thereby enabling gasket and seal suppliers to use one material to service both of these significant European markets that currently will not accept a WRAS certified product.
