Oil Resistance

Oil Resistance is the ability of a Solid Rubber to withstand the swelling and deteriorating effects of various types of oils. MacLellans offer a recommendation for Oil Resistance on its Data Sheets as a general indicator, however it is important to establish the exact derivative of Oil and the environment the rubber is expected to work within to establish a Material that will perform. For Rubber Sheeting this is typically represented as a % change in Volume or Swell.

The lower the % change in Volume or Swell the more indicative of the Rubber Sheeting's resistance to oils.
