Nitrosamine-free Blue Metal Detectable Rubber Arriving in 2018

08 Jan 2018

MacLellan Rubber's latest material development, aimed at safety critical sealing applications in the Food, Pharmaceutical and Biomedical sectors, will be released in the UK in 2018.

Alternative to Silicone Based Metal Detectable Materials

Recognising a need in the market for an alternative to silicone based Metal Detectable materials and with recent technical advances in producing Nitrosamine-free materials, MacLellan have developed a Blue Metal Detectable Nitrile Rubber which they're launching in the UK 2018.

This new material advances the elimination of contamination by the polymer into the process not only through early detection of particle contamination, but also through eradication of leachable Nitrosamine carcinogenic compounds found in many standard polymers. It is a significant development for companies looking for a cost-effective material for sealing applications.

Meeting European FoodSafe standards

The material meets European FoodSafe Standard EU1935 and is free from Animal Derived Ingredients (ADI), offers exceptional mechanical performance and competitive value against silicone and similar compounds.

Simon Winfield, director at MacLellan Rubber, said: "Listening to our customers and investing in solutions helps us to strengthen our product offering and meet the needs of our customers. 2018 will see a number of additional product developments that we believe will be of added value to our customers and also improve material standards across a range of industries."

The new Nitrosamine-free Blue Metal Detectable Nitrile Rubber will be available in a variety of formats, either cured or uncured, with full manufacturing batch testing and release certificates, as required.
